Finding your profile
- Look at the top-right corner of any page and click the user icon (person silhouette).
- In the dropdown that appears, click Profile.
- You'll land on the Profile page at
/profile.
What the profile page shows
The Profile page has two cards:
Personal Information
- First Name — your given name.
- Last Name — your family name.
- Username — the name you sign in with.
- Email — the email address on file for you.
Account Information
- Role — your overall access level (for example, Operator, AppAdmin, CompanyAdmin). This is a single summary of how much access you have across the system. Lower-numbered levels have more privileges; see the Reference section for the full list.
- Status — usually Active. If your account is disabled you won't be able to sign in at all.
- Company — the company your account is primarily assigned to. If you belong to more than one company, this shows your main one; use the company switcher in the header to move between them.
- Member Since — the date your account was created.
Everything on this page is read-only
Currently, the Profile page cannot be edited from within VAT Portal. That includes:
- ❌ Your name
- ❌ Your username
- ❌ Your email address
- ❌ Your password
- ❌ Your role or access level
- ❌ Your company assignment
If any of these are wrong or need to change, contact your company's admin. Admins can update user details from the Users page under Settings. See Editing a user's profile in the User & Access Management section for the admin's side of this.
To change your password, see Logging in and out — the short version is that admins reset passwords on your behalf in the current version of VAT Portal.
What's not on the profile page
A few things you might expect but won't find here:
- Language and theme — these are app-wide preferences, not profile fields. Change them from the header icons or see Language and theme.
- A list of all your access levels — the Role shown is your overall level. You may have different per-resource access levels (for example, full access to Documents but read-only to Users). These aren't displayed on the profile page; if you're unsure what you can do, try the action — VAT Portal will tell you if it's not allowed.
- A profile picture / avatar — not supported in the current version.
- Notification preferences — not supported in the current version.
Common questions
I got married / changed my name. How do I update it?
Ask your company's admin to update your First Name and Last Name in the Users page.
My email address is wrong. Can I fix it?
Not from this page. Ask your admin to update your email.
How do I change my password?
VAT Portal currently doesn't let you change your own password from the app — your admin does it for you. See Logging in and out > Forgot your password?
My role says "Operator" but I think I should be an Admin.
Role changes are made by admins. Ask your company's admin to adjust your access level. They can change both your overall role and your per-resource permissions from the Users page.
What does "AppAdmin" / "Operator" / "ReadOnly" actually mean?

The company shown isn't the one I'm working in today.
Profile shows your primary company. If you belong to multiple companies, use the company switcher in the top-left of the header to change which one you're actively working in. See Switching between companies for details.
