Prerequisites
You have a VAT Portal account created for you by your company's admin

What you'll learn#

  • How to sign in to VAT Portal
  • How to sign out
  • What happens if you enter the wrong password
  • Why you sometimes get returned to the login page on your own
  • What to do if you forget your password

Before you log in#

To sign in you need three things:

  1. Your company's VAT Portal address — usually a subdomain like yourcompany.vatportal.az. Your admin provides it when your account is created.
  2. Your username — also assigned by your admin.
  3. Your password — your admin sets an initial password for you.

Signing in#

  1. Open your company's VAT Portal address in a web browser.
  2. You'll see the Sign In screen:
    • VAT Portal logo at the top of the card
    • Username field
    • Password field
    • Sign In button
    • Two small icons in the top-right corner of the page — a theme toggle (sun/moon) and a language switcher (az / en / ru)
  3. If you'd like to change the language or the theme first, click the icons in the top-right corner. Your choice is remembered for next time.
  4. Enter your Username and Password.
  5. Click Sign In.
    • While the system checks your credentials, the button shows a spinner and "Signing in…".
  6. If everything is correct, you're taken to the Dashboard — you're in.
The full Sign In page with the centered card visible. Empty fields are fine (don't prefill with anything that looks like real credentials). Capture at a size where the theme toggle and language switcher in the top-right corner are clearly visible. Use light theme for this shot — it's the default a first-time user will see.

If sign-in fails#

If your username or password is wrong, you'll see the message:

Invalid username or password

just below the password field. The form stays on the page — correct the values and try again.

If you're certain your credentials are right but you still can't sign in, ask your company's admin to check your account. Common reasons:

  • The account was disabled
  • Your company was disabled
  • Your password was reset and you weren't told the new one

Signing out#

  1. Look at the top-right corner of any page — you'll see a small person icon.
  2. Click the icon to open a dropdown showing your name, email, and a few menu items.
  3. Click Logout at the bottom of the dropdown.
  4. You're returned to the Sign In screen.

Staying signed in#

VAT Portal remembers your session in the browser you used to sign in. That means:

  • Next time you open VAT Portal in the same browser, you won't need to sign in again — you'll land directly on the Dashboard.
  • If you close the browser or restart your computer, you'll still be signed in when you come back.
  • Each browser is independent — signing in on one browser doesn't sign you in on another, and vice versa.

There is no "Remember me" checkbox because this is the default behavior.

Why did I get sent back to the login page?#

Sometimes VAT Portal will sign you out automatically and return you to the Sign In screen. The most common reasons:

  • Your session expired on the server — sessions have a maximum lifetime set by your organization.
  • Your password was changed by an admin — any active sessions using the old password become invalid.
  • Your account or your company was disabled — you'll no longer be able to sign in until it's re-enabled.
  • Your access to the page you were viewing was revoked — most of the app continues to work, but certain actions will return you to the login.

In every case, the fix is the same: sign in again. If you can't, contact your admin.

Forgot your password?#

VAT Portal does not currently have a self-service password reset. If you've forgotten your password:

  1. Contact your company's admin.
  2. If the admin still knows (or can look up) your current password, they can change it for you directly from the Users page.
  3. If nobody has your current password, the admin will need to work with the system administrator for a backend-level reset, or create a fresh account for you cloned from your current one and disable the old one.
  4. Sign in with the new credentials they give you.

Likewise, you cannot change your own password from the app in the current version. If you'd like your password changed, ask your admin to do it for you — and if you still remember your current password, that makes it easier for them.

Common questions#

Can I sign in on my phone?

Yes — VAT Portal also has a companion mobile app for iOS and Android that covers day-to-day tasks. See the Mobile App section for details.

Can I be signed in on more than one device at the same time?

Yes. You can be signed in on your office computer, your laptop, and your phone all at once — they are independent sessions.

Does VAT Portal have two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Not in the current version. Protecting your account depends on keeping your password safe.

Does VAT Portal work with Asan Imza or a single sign-on (SSO) provider?

Not for signing in. Asan Imza is used by the Tax Module for signing tax documents, but it is not a login method for VAT Portal itself.

I closed my browser mid-task. Did I lose my work?

Any document you saved is safe on the server. Any form you had open but hadn't submitted yet is lost — VAT Portal does not auto-save drafts.

I keep getting "Invalid username or password" but I'm sure it's right.

Check Caps Lock, try typing the password into a plain text field first to make sure you're typing what you think you are, and confirm the username with your admin. If it still fails, your admin can reset the password.
